The U.S. women take on Australia in a friendly.
It's time to watch the women again ... and bid goodbye to Pia Sundhage. For half of a decade now we have watched Pia jump up and down, sing, play air guitar and hug anyone she can find. Before long, she will be doing that for Sweden so enjoy watching her do it in a U.S. shirt while you still can.
Luckily for us, Pia should get a few chances to go nuts today. Australia is a solid team, but the Americans have all of their best weapons and they have an adoring crowd waiting for them at the Home Depot Center. This match is screaming for goals and hopefully we will get them today.
Worth noting: Shannon Boxx, Amy Rodriguez, Sydney Leroux, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Rachel Buehler are all back in their hometowns for today's game. Toss in Lauren Cheney, who played at nearby UCLA, and the stands should be packed with family and friends today.
United States (4-4-2): Hope Solo; Kelley O’Hara, Becky Sauerbrunn, Christie Rampone, Amy LePeilbet; Tobin Heath, Lauren Cheney, Carli Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe; Alex Morgan, Amy Wambach.
