German-American forward Julian Green has been lighting it up for Bayern Munich's reserves this season, and he could make his first competitive appearance for Bayern Munich's senior squad this week. The 18-year-old made the trip to Russia, where Bayern take on CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Bayern are struggling with injuries up front and went into this weekend's match with Borussia Dortmund with only one fit striker, Mario Mandzukic. He was substituted early in that game and did not travel to Russia because of a hip injury. There's no word yet on the severity of that injury.

Green has refused a call-up to the United States senior team and played in UEFA qualifying matches for the German Under-19 national team. Playing competitive matches at the Under-19 level does not prohibit Green from eventually deciding to play for the United States, though he's well on his way to getting a call-up for competitive German Under-21 matches at the rate he appears to be progressing in his career.
