Terrence Boyd will transfer to RB Leipzig

Rapid Vienna announces transfer is all but complete, sending Boyd back to the country of his birth.

Terrence Boyd will be heading back to Germany, as his transfer from Rapid Vienna to 2. Bundesliga side RB Leipzig is all but complete. Rapid Vienna announced on Monday that a deal had been agreed to in principle and that the 23-year-old has already been allowed to join Leipzig to undergo a physical.

Leipzig is a relatively new club, having joined Germany's fifth division ahead of the 2009-10 when Red Bull bought its license from SSV Markranstädt. The club has made a rapid ascent, earning promotion to the fourth division after its first season and making it to the third division two seasons later. In 2013-14, Leipzig finished second to move one step away from the top flight.

Boyd finishes off his time at Rapid Vienna having scored 37 goals across 80 matches in all competitions. He had reportedly drawn interest from Wigan of the English Championship and Sporting CP of Portugal's Primeira Liga.
