One of the United States national team's brightest prospects, Matt Miazga, is heading to the defending Premier League champions Chelsea according to ESPNFC. The 20-year-old centerback will join the famous club within the next 24 hours according to the report.
Miazga's contract with the New York Red Bulls was set to expire after the upcoming 2016 season, so getting the rumored $5 Million transfer fee while it's still a possibility is probably a good move for MLS and the club.
Chelsea being the destination for the promising defender is a bit of a question mark. They are club run by a Russian billionaire and are notorious for stockpiling young talent only to loan them out multiple years in a row with no real intention of giving them a chance at first team minutes. A very intelligent business strategy, but one that isn't conducive to youth development.
The player has departed the USMNT's January camp to head to London to complete the deal before the European transfer window shuts.
