The United States' busy 2016 finally kicks off. The last time we saw this team they were playing to an extremely dull 0-0 draw in Trinidad & Tobago. It's been a long three weeks of training for this January camp roster that now culminates in two friendlies. First up is Iceland.
Klinsmann hands debuts to Kellyn Acosta and Ethan Finlay in what is a mix-and-match experimental lineup. The U.S. appears as if they'll lineup up in a 2 striker formation with four in the midfield. Gyasi Zardes and Jozy Altidore start together up top. Lee Nguyen gets his first ever start for the team.
It should be an interesting day with forecasts expected to be dreary and wet all match long. Nevertheless it should be fun to see what these fringe players bring to the table.
The match is listed on the schedule as a 3:45 p.m. ET kick off, but as well know they love to advertise that only for actual kick off to be 15-20 minutes after that, so plan accordingly. The match will be televised on ESPN2 and UniMas. Kick back and enjoy your Sunday afternoon with the USMNT's first match of the year.
United States lineup: Luis Robles; Kellyn Acosta ,Matt Besler, Michael Orozco, Brad Evans; Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones, Lee Nguyen, Ethan Finlay; Gyasi Zardes, Jozy Altidore
