The United States men’s national team took care of business against Cuba as expected. It was a very unattractive match to watch and we learned very little from it, but it’s another win in a very good 2016 for the USMNT so far.
This match was all about preparing for the start of The Hex next month and playing unfavorable conditions is absolutely something the U.S. will have to deal with as it bid for another berth in a World Cup, although maybe not to the extremes as we saw in Havana.
Despite the ugly match, there are still player ratings to be calculated. Here’s how the SSFC community voted:
Man of the Match - Julian Green
To the surprise of no one, Julian Green was voted Man of the Match by the voters. The Bayern Munich forward was deployed on the left flank by Jurgen Klinsmann and was one of the few attacking bright spots for the Americans throughout the 90 minutes. He looked confident and eager to show his skills.
Green capped his fine performance off with an insurance goal to seal the 2-0 win late in the match.
