Darlington Nagbe is touring Celtic Park; Silly season has arrived

This is barely even a transfer rumor at this point, but the midfielder popping up in Scotland is a little curious.

With the MLS season over and a long break for any MLS USMNTers ahead, it’s probably normal to see many players relax, spend time with their family, and possibly even get a some vacation trips in. Darlington Nagbe appeared to be doing just that, going home to Cleveland with his wife and two children whom he extensively documents on Instagram (his kids are really cute. Like, to a ridiculous degree. No, I don’t have a problem. Maybe you have a problem).

And then this morning, that same Instagram account popped up in Glasgow, Scotland.

In an Instagram story, Nagbe filmed himself walking the ground of an empty Celtic Park with a couple of suits and a man he calls “Ari Gold,” a reference to the tv show “Entourage” and its sleazy agent character. The stadium appeared set to host the Celtic-Barcelona Champions League match for tomorrow night, and Nagbe appeared to be getting something of a tour of the grounds.

Now, I know this is silly season to the extreme. For all we know this was an extremely expensive Christmas gift. But seeing a soccer player with not much of a reputation outside of MLS getting a private tour of Celtic Park is still a bit curious. This one is firmly labeled “Watch, but don’t get excited or anything yet.”
