Late Tuesday afternoon, reputable U.S. Soccer journalist Steven Goff tweeted out that Julian Green is on the verge of leaving Bayern Munich for VfB Stuttgart in the 2. Bundesliga.

It’s not clear whether the move would be a loan or a permanent transfer at this point.
Green’s contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of this season. So, unless something drastic happens, it appears the 21-year-old has played his last match for his boyhood club.
Despite his persistence to try and earn a spot in the Bayern first team, Green has only appeared in a match five times this season, all in cup competitions. A stellar preseason under new manager Carlo Ancelotti and praise from teammates and staff a like had optimism for more playing time flying. However, the depth of the German giants was just too much for the youngster to overcome.
Green sustained a muscle injury in November that’s kept him out of action. It seems like he’ll be fighting for a spot in the Stuttgart lineup when the winter break in Germany concludes on January 29.
