As evident by December’s FIFA World Rankings, the world of international soccer has come to a screeching halt. The Top 28 in the rankings for this month remain unchanged from November, meaning the United States stay pat in their 28th position.
Ironically, Iran crept up one spot to 29th right behind the U.S. as one of the only changes in the rankings. The Americans narrowly avoided falling without even playing a match.
December is just a rotten time to be a hardcore fan of international soccer with absolutely nothing going on but club soccer. Is it January yet? I think I can speak for all of us when I say, I’m ready to obsess over some meaningless friendlies with a makeshift C-team roster. Hurry the heck up 2017.
