The rumored transfer of Darlington Nagbe to Scottish champions Celtic is apparently off the table according to multiple sources.
I’m told the Timbers — not Celtic — put an end to the discussions about a potential transfer of Nagbe this morning. #RCTID

Taylor Twellman confirmed as much on Twitter Monday night saying that the Portland Timbers rejected Celtic’s approach for the USMNT midfielder “for multiple reasons.”

This rumor was always a skeptical one from the start and began when Nagbe visited Celtic Park for a Champions League match and documented his journey via social media. Some sketchy outlets in the UK decided to run with that and eventually led to the reports that Celtic were ready to make a bid.
It’s unclear if an official bid ever came for Nagbe and if so, how much it exactly was. What is clear is that it doesn’t appear as if this deal is going to go forward.
Honestly, it’s probably for the best. If MLS is known for its physicality and rough play, the Scottish Premier League is notorious for the same and probably even worse. If Nagbe does make the jump across the pond he should hold out for a better situation in this writer’s opinion.
