Just when you thought he was out, they’re trying to pull him back in.
Earlier this month it was reported that
Brett Favre Landon Donovan would be hanging up his cleats and retiring once again from the sport of soccer. However, as Charles Boehm reports for Soccer Wire, the United States men’s national team’s all-time leading goal scorer might not be done after all.
Boehm writes that no only could Landon play again, but he might be considering a change in MLS clubs after being in contact with Real Salt Lake.
Multiple sources tell me that the 34-year-old has been in touch with RSL, and appears to be mulling a blockbuster move to continue his comeback at a new club, despite his deep roots in SoCal.
To say this rumor comes out of left field would be an understatement. One of Landon’s biggest reasons for playing again was so that his son could see him. Why would he continue on and leave home all at the same time?
This one seems a little out there, so take it with a slight grain of salt until he’s spotted at a Utah Jazz game with Nick Rimando or something.
Just when you thought it was safe to close the book on Landon’s career, the rumor mill blows the cover back open...
