The sport of soccer can be a cruel one. Fabian Johnson is in the best form of his life and many hoped that would translate to success with the United States. However, that appears as if it won't happen as the midfielder has sustained an injury just a few days before USMNT camp convenes. Arguably the team's best player, Johnson has picked with a right thigh strain. A time timetable for his recovery hasn't been given by Borussia Monchengladbach, they've only said that he's "out until further notice".

One has to believe that this injury rules Johnson out for the two upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Guatemala, but nothing has been confirmed by the Bundesliga club or U.S. Soccer.
If he's unable to play, that opens up a big spot on the wing for the USA. Klinsmann could look to players such as Darlington Nagbe, Brek Shea, Gyasi Zardes, or Ethan Finlay to fill the void.
