Guatemala vs. USA, World Cup qualifying: Lineups and match thread

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The third CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match is finally here for the United States. Their bid to qualifying for Russia 2018 and an eighth straight World Cup continues tonight in Guatemala City, Guatemala with a tough road test. Through two match days so far in this fourth round of qualifying, the U.S. sit atop Group C with four points. This home-and-home set of qualifiers against Guatemala will go a long ways in determining who will advance to next year's 6-team final qualifying stage.

Away qualifiers in CONCACAF are never easy. The U.S. split the points with Guatemala at this point in qualifying last cycle. If the Americans hope to wrap up qualification to the Hex during this international break, they must take six of six available points in these two matches.

Jurgen Klinsmann has selected a very interesting side tonight. John Brooks and Matt Besler both picked up knocks forcing Omar Gonzalez and Michael Orozco into the back line. Mix Diskerud gets a shock start in the midfield next to Michael Bradley, while Bobby Wood starts up top with Clint Dempsey.

Tonight's match kicks off at 10:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on beIN Sports or NBC Universo

United States Lineup: Tim Howard; Geoff Cameron, Omar Gonzalez, Michael Orozco, Edgar Castillo; DeAndre Yedlin, Michael Bradley, Mix Diskerud, Alejandro Bedoya; Bobby Wood, Clint Dempsey
