While the United States is currently in a battle for its World Cup lives, there are still two more qualifiers to be played in September of this year. After they wrap up this week against Guatemala, they still have to head to St. Vincent & the Grenadines (Sept. 2) before coming home to close out the fourth round of World Cup qualifying against Trinidad & Tobago(Sept. 6).
According to reports, Jacksonville, Florida has been chosen as the site for the grand finale which could be a lot more dramatic than anyone ever had imagined. EverBank Field will apparently play host to the crucial match.
The USMNT last played in Jacksonville in a 2014 World Cup warm-up match against Nigeria. They appear to be headed back there two years later in what could be the biggest match of their year. The U.S. currently sit third in Group C and depending on how the next two match days play out, could be in dire need of some home support against T&T.
While the official announcement on Jacksonville hosting the match has not been made, a press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday in which they're expected to make it a done deal.
