The United States women's national team filed a federal lawsuit with the EEOC against US Soccer for gender-based wage discrimination.
It's a pretty bold move in a series of bold moves from the WNT, who have gone from lawsuit to boycott to lawsuit in an effort to get US Soccer to listen to them.
Meanwhile, players, celebrities, and even politicians took notice today when the news of the suit hit.

@hopesolo Thank you all for taking a stand. Women have been economically marginalized for hundreds of years. #EqualMeansEqual

Dear @hopesolo & @alexmorgan13 & @beckysauerbrunn & @CarliLloyd & @mPinoe.

MILLIONS OF US are standing with you & the team today!
Way to stand up for your rights, #USWNT! https://t.co/h9qlYbc5sb #offthesidelines #equalplayequalpay

Wouldn’t want to face these women on the field or in the courtroom. Every woman deserves equal pay. https://t.co/RBuAFtgpDS

The time is long overdue for pay equity in this country. I believe that they will win. https://t.co/f7sYev9VFB

And then there's Landon Donovan, who tried, bless his heart.
Both #USMNT and #USWNT should be paid commensurate w/ the revenues they produce, not based upon what the other makes https://t.co/Di7yUzf4Te

You're correct, I'm not for equal pay, I'm for fair pay. If #USWMT generate more revenue, they should be paid more https://t.co/T0ecya9eBk

That's ridiculous. I flew to the WWC last year to support the women. This is a complicated issue w/ many factors https://t.co/Hs3862DSqP

Correct. I have a twin sister, I'm the furthest thing from sexist. Just trying to give people both sides https://t.co/ZrXGYIlVGj

The lovely @Jackie_Pepper reminded me that the men & women are doing the same amount of "work" and should be paid equally. Can't argue that.

At least he kind of got there in the end? Maybe?
