Christian Pulisic came close to scoring first Borussia Dortmund goal

Next time, next time.

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Christian Pulisic started for Borussia Dortmund today in a Bundesliga match against Schalke 04. He almost scored:

Unfortunately (as you can see), he did not score. However, he looked very good, drawing quite a few fouls. He was subbed out in the 73rd minute for Ilkay Gündogan.

The match finished with a 2-2 score. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Leroy Sane scored for Schalke; Shinji Kagawa and Matthias Ginter scored for Dortmund. The tie pushes Dortmund (who rested their starters in anticipation of the second leg of their Europa League tie against Liverpool on Wednesday) to seven points behind Bayern Munich, virtually eliminating them from the title race.

Does this mean good things for Pulisic's playing time for the rest of the season? Maybe, maybe not. But he certainly passes the eye test and fits in well with the squad. And for now, that's all you can ask for from a 17-year old in his first professional season.
