Darlington Nagbe returns to training following injury scare

Superhuman status confirmed

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Darlington Nagbe has returned to Portland Timbers training just five days after being the victim of a horrendous tackle. The United States midfielder appears of have been extremely lucky after being on the receiving end of this vicious tackle by Nigel de Jong on Sunday night.

MLS announced a three-match suspension for De Jong saying the tackle was "of an egregious and reckless nature".

Timbers and USMNT fans were extremely worried that Nagbe would be out for a considerable amount of time after he was stretchered off the field after the incident. The 25-year-old is the most fouled man in MLS and has been the victim of several poor tackles this season that have knocked him out of matches.

The good news is that he's back in training and the injury to his ankle only appears to be minor. This bodes well for his chances of being fit enough to take part in the summer's Copa America, something that looked in serious jeopardy just five days ago.
