USA vs. Ecuador, 2016 Friendly: Man of the Match

A bit of an obvious choice...

Sean Pokorny-USA TODAY Sports

After the United States men's national team beat Ecuador on Wednesday night, it was two players who most fans and media were praising after coming on in the second half to change the match. So, would the SSFC Community Player Ratings reflect those sentiments? In short answer: Yes.

Man of the Match: Darlington Nagbe

Two second half subsitutes lead the way for player ratings in this friendly. Darlington Nagbe (8.44) was pretty much perfect after coming on at halftime. He completed all 32 of his pass attempts, created space on the field with his movement, and even scored his first international goal in the 90th minute to win the match. It was a dream performance in only his fifth cap of his career.

Christian Pulisic (7.77) was the next highest rated player and he only played about 25 minutes on the night. Quite impressive for the 17-year-old. Meanwhile, a lot of the initial starting lineup are the lower rated players, with Gyasi Zardes earning the dubious honor of being the lowest on the night.
