United States and D.C. United defender Steve Birnbaum is reportedly drawing interest from Europe. The interest is so strong that an official bid has even been made from an unnamed club according to CSN Chicago's Paul Tenorio.

Birnbaum has seen his stock skyrocket for both club and country over the last four months. After impressing everyone and even scoring his first international goal during the USMNT's January Camp, he started the most recent World Cup qualifier against Guatemala in March. Couple that with consistently solid performances for his club and some European clubs have apparently taken notice.
Unfortunately we don't have more information to work with other than a bid from a European club was made, so all we can do is speculate.
At 25 years old, Birnbaum is in the prime of his career. If he's ready to test the waters in Europe and there is mutual interest, it only make sense for something to happen this summer. We'll have to wait and see if a move materializes.
