Report: Trio of Bundesliga clubs join race to sign Bobby Wood

Interest in the American is heating up.

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Bobby Wood seems to be a hot commodity on the transfer market. Earlier this week we learned that Union Berlin have set the United States international's price tag at approximately $3.5 Million. According to MLSSoccer.com's Greg Seltzer, three more Bundesliga clubs have entered the fray to fight for his signature.

Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart, and Werder Bremen have all joined the race with fellow Bundesliga side Hamburg to sign Bobby Wood this summer. The only caveat to this smorgasbord of interest is the fact that all three of the newcomers into the picture are fighting relegation. Any of the three dropping divisions would eliminate them from contention as Wood has made it clear he wants to move up and not laterally.

Thanks to a great club season Wood will apparently have his choice of suitors this summer. With his involvement in the high-profile Copa America this summer almost assured, he could see an influx on interested clubs should he shine on the international stage in a month's time.

The transfer window opens back up in Germany on June 1st. The sharks are circling the proverbial boat. It's just a matter of which one is the hungriest.
