The United States women's national team found themselves in rare territory in the first half of their friendly match against rivals Japan. The World Champs were down 2-0 just 25 minutes into the match before Alex Morgan pulled a goal back for her side.
The play started down the right side with a beautiful ball by Crystal Dunn to the 18-year-old phenom Mallory Pugh. She raced down the wing and played a perfect cutback pass to an open Morgan who slotted her shot through the keeper's legs and into the net. It's Morgan's 65th career international goal and it pulls the score back to 2-1 as halftime approaches.
Japan have scored two nice goals in an uncharacteristically unmotivated half for the USA. They're finally finding their way into the match after the goal and will look to bring it back even.
