Today is the day! It's for all the consolation marbles! It's the United States vs. Colombia in the Copa America Centenario third-place match. Most predictors gave the U.S. absolutely no chance to get this far, but here they are with a chance to finish third in the 16-team tournament. Will finishing in third make up for the embarrassment that was the Argentina match? Maybe slightly.
Jurgen Klinsmann has made several changes to the lineup. John Brooks and Fabian Johnson are out with injuries. Michael Orozco and Matt Besler come in to take their place along the back four. Jermaine Jones, Alejandro Bedoya, and Bobby Wood all return from suspension to take their normal starting spots back.
The match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET and airs on FX/Univision. JP Dellecamara and Landon Donovan will be on the call once again for this one.
United States Lineup: Tim Howard; DeAndre Yedlin, Geoff Cameron, Matt Besler, Michael Orozco; Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones, Alejandro Bedoya; Gyasi Zardes, Clint Dempsey, Bobby Wood
Colombia Lineup: David Ospina; Frank Fabra, Cristian Zapata, Jeison Murillo, Santiago Arias; Guillermo Celis, Daniel Torres; James Rodriguez, Edwin Cardona, Juan Cuadrado; Carlos Bacca
3 Lineup Thoughts
- It's basically the same lineup as the first Colombia match except a weaker back line.
- No Nagbe, No Happy.
- Will this be Tim Howard's last match for the USMNT? If it is, hopefully it's a positive one.
