We're about a week away (give or take a few days for the different leagues) from the Summer transfer window opening around the world. As with every year, we're bound to see some United States men's national team players changing clubs during the summer window, which is inevitably the busiest time for transfers.
Here's a look at notable American players and the rumors surrounding them as the window gets set to open:
Alejandro Bedoya
SI reported in late May that Bedoya was drawing interest from the Bundesliga and Premier League. They also reported that if he moves this summer it would be to a European team, however if he waits until January he could be heading to MLS. It appears as if it's only a matter of when and not if Bedoya leaves Nantes.
Steve Birnbaum
The D.C. United defender has been a hot commodity during this silly season. Early in May he was linked with an audacious move to Borussia Dortmund. Lately the club linked heaviest to Birnbaum is Israeli club Maccabi Tel-Aviv, who have reportedly made a $500k offer for the center back. His stock is rising on the international level and it seems that clubs around the world are taking notice.
Brad Guzan
The USMNT No. 1 could be on the move this summer with his long-time club Aston Villa getting relegated to the English Championship last season. The latest is that newly-promoted Middlesbrough are interested in bring Guzan back to the Premier League with them.
Emerson Hyndman
The young Texan has already secured a move to Premier League club Bournemouth.
Liga MX
It's a lost cause to try and track any rumors about Americans moving in Liga MX. Inevitably every year the majority of them find new clubs thanks to the league's hectic player movement. You can expect more of the same this year. We'll do our best to keep track of them for you.
Matt Miazga
Rumors have been scarce surrounding Miazga. Greg Seltzer dropped a nugget in May that a 2. Bundesliga club was interested in New Jersey native, but that it didn't get very far in its pursuit. Perhaps Chelsea are willing to give him a shot with the first-team squad this season, but smart money is on a loan move materializing before the season begins.
Oguchi Onyewu
Gooch has been spotted training with Rangers ahead of their preseason tour of the USA. He's apparently not given up hope of a comeback.
Bobby Wood
Wood has secured a move up to the Bundesliga with Hamburg. He has signed a four-year deal with the club.
Danny Williams
The midfielder is drawing interest from teams all over England. Swansea and Sunderland from the Premier League, while Newcastle United and Aston Villa from the Championship are also intrigued. This also isn't the first time that Swansea City has been linked with Williams. The two sides were reportedly in negotiations as the winter transfer window was closing in February.
DeAndre Yedlin
Yedlin seems the most likely to change clubs this summer. With two proven Premier League right back ahead of him at Tottenham, it could force him to find another club either temporarily or permanently. The strongest rumor surrounding him so far is a move back to Sunderland where he enjoyed success towards the end of last season. They apparently want him back on a permanent transfer.
Gyasi Zardes
Galatasaray was interested in the LA Galaxy man back in May. Could a strong Copa America attract even more interest? It could be about time for Zardes to test himself at a more difficult level.
