The Julian Green hype train is picking up steam once again. Last week we heard Bayern Munich defender Javi Martinez say that the 21-year-old will get many opportunities this season. Now on Wednesday, their manager has come out and voiced his support for the young German-American.
Speaking before the club’s friendly against AC Milan tonight in Chicago (9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2), Carlo Ancelotti stated that Green will be important for the club this season.
Ancelotti says Julian Green has played well, worked hard. Must continue to improve, but "he will be important for us in the season."

It’s expected that European clubs will throw some praise on one of their American players while touring in the U.S. just to be nice and help their brand in the country. However, this pile of praise heaped onto Green could be legitimate.
It was revealed earlier this week that Green won’t be playing for Bayern’s reserve team this season. So, it appears as if he’s all-in on the first team. He will be hoping to continue to prove his worth during this preseason tour.
Bayern have sold Mario Gotze this summer and have no plans to replace him. That could open up the spot Green needs to be a consistent part of the first team in some way or another.
