The New England Revolution striker talked to FOX.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Charlie Davies revealed to FOX Sports that he was diagnosed with cancer in the spring.

According to a press release by the New England Revolution, he was diagnosed and treated for liposarcoma and is now in remission.

It was important for Charlie to concentrate on his family and treatment during the past few weeks and the club honored his wish for privacy. The New England Revolution will continue to support him through full recovery and are looking forward to seeing him back out on the pitch. Any fans who wish to share support should tweet or tag messages to Charlie at @CharlieDavies9 or use the hashtag #CD9.

Liposarcoma is a rare type of cancer that grows in fat cells in deep tissue.

Davies has not played with the Revolution since April.

There will be a program about Davies being shown on FOX on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Eastern.

Best wishes to Charlie Davies and his family as he continues the road to recovery.
