It appears as if Tottenham Hotspur will begin their 2016-17 season with not one, but two Americans on their first team roster. The Independent are reporting that Cameron Carter-Vickers will be joining DeAndre Yedlin on the Spurs squad list to start the season.
Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, made the decision to keep three of his young players in Harry Winks, Joshua Onomah, and CCV with his first team instead of loaning them out this season, according to the report.
While this doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll always be with the senior team on match days, he’ll train with the team and be available for any and every match. Much like Christian Pulisic with Borussia Dortmund last season.
Carter-Vickers, 18, was handed the No. 38 for his official squad number on Friday.

The same report also indicates that CCV will be in contention for Spurs’ match day squad when they kick off the season against Everton on Saturday.
It’s great to see that Tottenham are committed to developing their young players and judging from their track record, the young defender is in good hands. It’ll be a special moment when he finally does make his first team debut, something that’s been on the cusp of happening ever since the final stretch of matches last season.
You can bet that Jurgen Klinsmann will have a close eye on Carter-Vickers, just waiting for the right time to call him up like he’s done with other prized dual-national prospects in the system.
