Matt Miazga offered to Sunderland by Chelsea - report

Matt Miazga is still a Chelsea player at the moment. Despite rumors and reports of various moves (including a loan to Eintracht Frankfurt), nothing has come to fruition.

However, buried in a story by The Guardian regarding Younes Kaboul potentially leaving Sunderland for Watford is a tidbit on the young American center back:

The Chelsea defender Matt Miazga, meanwhile, has been offered to Sunderland on a season-long loan.

Kaboul leaving the club could potentially create an opening for Miazga to get playing time. However, the Black Cats also recently brought in center backs Paddy McNair and Papy Djilobodji. Sunderland would be a challenge for consistent playing time, but certainly a less difficult one than he currently faces in West London.

Miazga, 21, joined Chelsea in January from the New York Red Bulls. He made two appearances last season, but has seen himself pushed further and further back on the depth chart. Greener pastures (at least for this season) could aid his development and possibly improve his standing with the national team.

Chelsea's recently hired manager, Antonio Conte, has hinted at Miazga making a loan move.

"He's a young player, he has a good technique and I think that he is working very well under the physical aspect, but the tactical aspect he can improve a lot and I think that he is improving with his work," Conte said during the club's summer tour.

This is just the latest rumor involving Miazga. Is he destined to join Sunderland this season? The truth will be revealed in the next two weeks.
