Two of the brightest young American soccer players plying their trade in Europe have been embroiled in transfer sagas this summer. Both players seem destined to have new clubs by the time the summer transfer window slams shut next week (Sept. 1).

Here’s a look at the latest rumors surrounding both.

(Note: Both stories come from less than reliable sources. We thought it best just to bring them to your attention all in one post and let you decide on their validity)

DeAndre Yedlin subject of bids from Newcastle and Aston Villa

The Daily Mail in England is reporting that both Newcastle United and Aston Villa have submitted £5 million bids for the United States international. This is an increase from the earlier reports of £3.5 million bids from Derby County and Hull City.

Like we said, take these reports with grains of salt.

UPDATE: Shields Gazette is claiming that Yedlin is due in Newcastle to finalize a deal soon.

There seems to be an increase in interest from the Championship in Yedlin. Using common sense, you’d have to believe that he’d prefer to stay in the Premier League after a successful end to last season. Would he accept a “demotion” to the second-division for playing time? As a last resort it kind of makes sense. We’ll have to wait and see if any Premier League teams enter the picture as the window starts to close.

1860 Munich could be an option for Matt Miazga

Bild reports that Miazga could be an option for 1860 Munich who are in desperate need of center backs. The New Jersey native is surely headed out of the door at Chelsea with no playing time in his future.

He has been linked to clubs like Sunderland and Eintracht Frankfurt. A drop down to the German second division would be a pretty steep step down for the young defender. We’ll have to wait and see what happens between now and next week.

What do you think of these rumors? Concerned to see them possibly dropping divisions?
