Christian Pulisic is a wanted man (kid?). Despite denials from his father and himself about him leaving Borussia Dortmund this season, clubs from all over Europe are banging at the door to try and acquire the American prodigy.
According to Bild, three prominent teams across the continent are interested in bringing Pulisic to their club in some capacity. Clubs said to be interested in the Pennsylvania native include: CSKA Moskow, Stoke City, and RB Leipzig
Pulisic’s chances at playing time at Dortmund this season don’t seem to be very high after the club have signed four attacking players during the transfer window, all who seem to have leapfrogged the U.S. international on the depth chart.
However, he has been getting some minutes in friendlies. As evident by this goal he scored against third-division side Hallescher.
It’s not very surprising to see all of these clubs interested in a talented 17-year-old. Young players who have proven themselves at a high level already are very valuable commodities in the world of soccer, especially in Europe.
The report states that RB Leipzig are interested in buying Pulisic outright instead of a loan, while the level of interest from the other two clubs is unclear.
Stoke City is a very interesting club to come up. They have made a habit of scouring the other big leagues in the world and taking talent on loan. An example of this is Bojan Krkić, who they rescued from Barcelona and turned into a first team player.
That’s not to say Pulisic needs ‘rescuing’ by any means, but it could be an interesting opportunity to get consistent playing time at a high level.
In all likelihood, Borussia Dortmund will hold on to him until at least January to see what type of playing time he is getting. If it becomes apparent that he’s not going receive adequate playing time by then, he could possibly be loaned out.
For now, reports and rumors will always pop up regarding a talented young player like Pulisic. We’ll just have to see if anything materializes.
