In just a week’s time (Friday, September 2) the final two match days of the fourth round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying begin. Trinidad and Tobago are the surprise leaders of Group C with the United States and Guatemala trailing behind slightly. Both tickets into the Hex are up for grabs.
T&T manager, Stephen Hart, has named his 24-man roster for the team’s final two matches against Guatemala and the USA.
The most noticable two names on the roster for American soccer fans are probably Joevin Jones and Kenwyne Jones. The former is a stalwart in the Seattle Sounders starting lineup and has been instrumental in their turnaround of lately. Kenwyne recently made the move to MLS this summer, joining Expansion franchise Atlanta United. He’s currently on-loan in Trinidad and Tobago with Central FC and scored a goal in the CONCACAF Champions League already. He will no doubt be a huge area of focus for the USMNT defense.
T&T play Guatemala on Friday, then head to Jacksonville to play the USMNT the following Tuesday, in what will likely be a battle for the top spot in the group.
