With Michael Bradley suspended due to yellow card accumulation and Clint Dempsey not on the roster while getting treated for an irregular heartbeat, U.S. Soccer announced on Monday that Jozy Altidore will wear the captain’s armband on Friday vs. St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

This move paints a clearer picture of what to expect the lineup to look like on Friday. Jozy will obviously be starting. Using the power of deduction, we can also assume that Tim Howard will not be in net as he’d be the obvious choice to take over as captain in Bradley’s stead.
This isn’t the first time Jozy has lead the team out of the tunnel, he also served as captain against Colombia in a friendly in late 2014. The U.S. lost that match at Craven Cottage in London.
Jozy has been in excellent form since returning from a hamstring injury. Hopefully he can keep that going and help earn the U.S. a spot in the CONCACAF Hex that begins in November.
