The United States Under-20 men's national team defeated the New York Cosmos of the NASL, 2-0, in a friendly held at the Cosmos' Training Facility in Uniondale, New York.
Jeremiah Gutjahr opened the scoring in the 46th minute via an assist from Jonathan Suarez.
Suarez scored a goal of his own in the 67th minute.
JT Marcinkowski made three saves to earn the shutout in net.
The U-20s are currently engaged in a training camp in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. They face New York Red Bulls II of the USL on August 7th at the Red Bulls' Training Facility.
Brian Sciaretta of American Soccer Now spoke with Tab Ramos about the squad:
Ramos was satisfied with the team’s effort: "It was a very good game. We played well." He also added that several of the players who were with the team for the first time adjusted well—citing specifically Gutjahr and Kendall SC’s Jonathan Lewis as particular standouts.
