Argentina still top

The United States men’s national team have rose four spots to No. 22 in the latest FIFA World Rankings. A perfect 2-0 in World Cup qualifiers, despite it not being the greatest of competition, was a catalyst in getting the U.S. a nice little bump in the rankings.

Yes, by now you know that FIFA’s rankings are pretty much pointless outside of the Top 8 or so teams, but it’s still interesting to know where you stand by whatever metrics they utilize.

Even with the four spot bump, the USMNT are still the third ranked team in CONCACAF behind Mexico (15) and Costa Rica (18). However, with the beginning of the Hex, these three teams will be playing each other twice and it should scramble up the rankings real nice once it’s all said and done.

There was one slight alteration in this month’s Top 4 as Germany and Colombia have swapped places with the South Americans falling a spot to No. 4. Argentina and Belgium are still your Top 2 teams in the world.

It’s always nice to rise in rankings despite how meaningless it may be. Hopefully another successful few months will see the U.S. crack the Top 20.
