The United States men’s national team have a great chance to all but secure a place in the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying tonight. They travel to Kingstown to take on St. Vincent & the Grenadines in their penultimate semi-final round qualifier.

The U.S. currently trail Trinidad & Tobago by three points in the Group 3 standings with two matches remaining. Before those two countries square off in Jacksonville on the final matchday of this round, the Soca Warriors take on third-place Guatemala in a very important match that will decide what type of result the U.S. will need on Tuesday.

Many expect the Americans to stroll past Vincy Heat in this match. In all honesty, every conventional metric and piece of logic tells us they should. However, CONCACAF World Cup qualifying is anything but conventional.

There are many instances in the past of the U.S. struggling to beat teams they should handle with ease. There’s just something about this region that is impossible to comprehend when it comes to unknown venues and countries being able to hang with the more powerful teams.

Hopefully Jurgen Klinsmann will have his side prepared as best as they can for the inevitable poor playing conditions on a Cricket field.
