Borussia Dortmund announced a contract extension for American international Christian Pulisic. The deal runs through June 30th, 2020.
"We are very happy to have secured the long-term commitment of another extraordinarily talented player,“ said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc. “Christian already enjoys a high standing within the team and can become a cornerstone of our sporting future“.
"I still have a lot to learn,“ said Christian Pulisic. "I feel Dortmund offers the best conditions to do that. I have the chance to play in front of over 80,000 fans. We have the best supporters in the world - it does not get any better than that!“
The 18-year old attacking midfielder and winger joined the Dortmund academy in 2015 after spending his youth career with the PA Classics. He’s experienced a rapidly rise after joining the senior team in 2016, making 22 Bundesliga appearances and becoming a full member of the USMNT. Pulisic earned 11 national team caps and scored three goals in 2016.
He’s been the subject of transfer and loan rumors (particularly during the summer), but this deal should keep him at the Westfalenstadion for a very long time. It’s a solid decision for Pulisic, as there aren’t many clubs that are better for development or give young players as many opportunities to prove their worth.
