Bruce Arena cuts USMNT roster to 23

Some interesting cuts made.

Bruce Arena has cut his roster to 23 players to face Serbia on Sunday. Five players have been sent back to their clubs and will not participate going forward. They include: Taylor Kemp, Keegan Rosenberry, Brian Rowe, Wil Trapp, and Chris Wondolowski. Also, Gyasi Zardes has a minor contusion in his right knee and will not travel.

The interesting name sent home is Wondolowski. While not trying to read too much into his release, it could signify that Arena is ready to move of from the veteran striker to give the young players more chances. Most fans have scratched their heads anytime the soon-to-be 34-year-old is named to a roster. Could this finally be the end of his time with the national team?

Trapp and Rosenberry getting cut is a little surprising. Both are young players who are rated highly in MLS. It appears they still have some work to do to get minutes at the international level.
