After just five months after joining AFC Bournemouth on a free transfer, American midfielder Emerson Hyndman is leaving for a bit. The Premier League club confirmed on Monday that the 20-year-old will join famous Scottish side Rangers on loan for the rest of the season.

Hyndman joined the Cherries in the summer after biding his time at Fulham to become a free agent. A preseason injury hampered his chances for early playing time. After returning, the Texas native only managed to appear in three matches for the club before this loan move was announced.

Most recently, he made his first ever start for Bournemouth in a 3-0 FA Cup third round loss to Millwall.

Much like his U.S. U-23 teammate Gedion Zelalem, Hyndman will leave the Premier League for a bit and hope to gain some seasoning with Rangers as they fight for the runner-up spot in the SPL table behind runaway leaders Celtic.

Hopefully this move will be the spark he needs to further develop into the talented player most evaluators believe he is.
