This post-World Cup qualifying disaster friendly with Portugal may not mean much of anything, but don’t tell that to Weston McKennie. The Schalke teenager has scored just 21 minutes into his first-ever cap for the United States.
After some great work on the flank by C.J. Sapong, McKennie found himself isolated with a defender, he cut onto his right foot and slotted a cultured finish low and hard to the near post for a great goal.
The hype machine has ramped up over the past year as McKennie has broken into the Schalke first-team and it doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon with this great goal on his debut.
