United States men’s national team interim (one-off?) manager Dave Sarachan has announced a 21-man roster ahead of the team’s friendly with reigning European champions, Portugal.
The first match since the USA’s choke job in Trinidad & Tobago will feature a few interesting new names looking to prove they’re national team material.
Several young and talented players like Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Josh Sargent get their first-ever looks with the national team. Meanwhile, some fringe players who were ignored heavily during the Hex failure like Danny Williams and Eric Lichaj get their chance.
Overall, it’s a smorgasbord of youth and experience for a one-off friendly that means nothing. Give us your thoughts on the group below.
Here’s the full roster:
GOALKEEPERS (3): Jesse Gonzalez (FC Dallas; 0/0), Bill Hamid (Midtjylland/DEN; 3/0), Ethan Horvath (Club Brugge/BEL; 1/0)
