Christian Pulisic has been named US Soccer’s male player of the year for 2017. At 19, Pulisic is the youngest player to receive the award. Last year’s winner was Jozy Altidore.
Voting was done by MNT players who earned a cap in 2017, MNT and youth MNT coaches, MLS, NASL, and USL head coaches, and former players, administrators, and media members. Pulisic received 94% of the votes.

Pulisic had six goals and four assists over 773 minutes in nine games for the MNT, with three goals and three assists in 25 games with Borussia Dortmund. He’s currently on nine goals out of 20 MNT caps total, or about a goal every other game; this work rate may not keep up over the course of his career, but it’s certainly an extremely auspicious start.
What do you think? Was there never going to be another option in 2017 for best MNT player of the year? Was there a dark horse you think could have sneaked in? Or is this simply the beginning of the Age of Pulisic?
