United States men’s national team fans were left a bit worried this weekend when Bobby Wood was scratched from the Hamburg starting lineup on Saturday ahead of their match against Freiburg.
However, according to reports out of Germany, the USMNT striker will be just fine as the thigh injury that kept him from playing isn’t serious. His official status is that of day-to-day and he could be back and ready to play against Bayern Munich this weekend if all goes well.
Hamburg manager Markus Gisdol tells the media that Wood’s knock isn’t anything to worry about.
“It does not seem to be anything quite serious,” Gisdol said after the 2-2 draw. “But it would be too early now to give a prediction as to whether it will be enough for the match in Munich. We assume that we will see more clearly in a few days.” - via SBI Soccer
With the USMNT not playing another competitive match for another month, this minor injury doesn’t seem to have any affect on his availability come late March.
