Well, what a night that was. I can’t remember the last time I came away from watching a USMNT match and was genuinely happy and excited. While the 6-0 win was a thing a beauty, more importantly the team looked like it had a focused idea of what they were doing. Every position was clear, the shape was organized, and the gameplan was executed to perfection.

There were many standout performers, as you’d expect in such a good team performance. However, there were two clear front-runners for best outing of the night. But, there could be only one winner:

Man of the Match: Clint Dempsey

In his first match back from time on the sidelines due to a heart ailment, Deuce notched an incredible hat trick. For someone who probably wouldn’t have even started if not for a rash of injuries, the USMNT’s second all-time leading scorer carried his national team once again to a huge victory. His 9.4 rating barely edged out the scintillating performance of the 18-year-old phenom Christian Pulisic.
