Notable performances this past weekend

Soccer: 2018 FIFA World Cup Qulafying-Mexico at USA Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Carli Lloyd

She scored a goal en route to a 4-1 win for Manchester City over Birmingham to hoist the FA Cup trophy. Read More

Fabian Johnson

The 29 year-old got back on the pitch for Borussia Moenchengladbach in the 66’ minute of a 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg. Fresh off signing a new contract, it was Fabian’s first match in two months since suffering a thigh injury.

Bobby Wood

His Hamburg side were able to fight for another point on the road against Schalke. But Bobby made it eight matches in a row without scoring a goal. Hamburg are in 16th at the moment, the relegation qualification spot, just two points behind three different teams.

Alex Morgan

She went off injured in Lyon's clash with PSG, but not before scoring a goal in their 3-0 win. It looks like Morgan might have injured her hamstring and could miss OL action for the near future, including their upcoming Champions League final on June 1.

Matt Miazga

Miazga went the full 90 in Vitesse’s 3-0 shutout of Roda. Vitesse are in a respectable 5th place in the Eredivisie. Unfortunately they are 25 points out of 3rd place, which qualifies for Europa League.

Gedion Zelalem

Speaking of the Netherlands, Zalelem’s VVV Venlo side were promoted to the first division after clinching first place. But he only contributed one goal and made only one start while on his loan from Arsenal.

Joe Corona

Corona went the full 90 and picked up an assist in Tijuana’s 2-0 (2-1 agg) win over Morelia.

Geoff Cameron

Played in a defensive midfield position every minute of the 4-1 drubbing Stoke City took from Arsenal. Another rough day for Geoff. But Arsenal were quite hungry.

Brad Guzan

Middlesbrough have officially been relegated after a 2-1 loss to Southampton. Brad went the full 90. But he won’t be too heartbroken about relegation as he is moving to Atlanta United this summer.

Danny Williams

His Reading side finished 3rd in the Championship and drew with Fulham in the first leg of the play-off. Williams was taken down in the box and probably deserved a penalty, but it was waved away in a very tight match. The second leg is tomorrow.

Christian Pulisic

Came on for the final ten minutes of Dortmun’s 1-1 draw with Augsburg. It was dropped points for BvB as they are in the final UCL spot, but level on points with Hoffenheim.

Timmy Chandler

Timmy’s Eintrach Frankfurt side was near the top of the table seemingly not that long ago, but they continue to free fall down the table and sit in 11th place after a 4-2 loss to 13th place Mainz 05. He played the full 90 as a defensive midfielder.
