It was the first weekend back in action for several countries. Here’s your quick update on our yanks abroad.
Timothy Chandler
Went the full 90 for Frankfurt. Timmy got off to a good start this season scoring a goal in the 35th minute of the 3-0 Cup win.
Bobby Wood
Bobby also got his season off to the right start. The Bundesliga opens next weekend, but Wood scored in a 3-1 Cup win for Hamburg. This season will be a big test for the striker and he should be going into the opener with some confidence.
John Brooks
We have to talk about Brooks, but for the wrong reasons. In the 37th min of Wolfsburg’s 1-0 Cup win, he was subbed out with a thigh injury. Not much word about his status yet, but it will be something to keep an eye on.
Weston McKennie
After getting his first minutes on the final day of the season last year, McKennie had a solid preseason for Schalke and was given the start today. He went 55 minutes before being replaced in the 2-0 win.
Aron Johannsson
He was in the lineup but didn’t play on the weekend for Werder Bremen amid rumors they are looking to sell him.
Geoff Cameron
Went the full 90 for Stoke on the weekend. He was part of a back three that were done in by Wayne Rooney just before halftime.
Came on as a sub in the 57’ minute for newly promoted Huddersfield Town. The new guys picked up a big 3-0 over Crystal Palace to start their Premier League era.
Tim Ream
Ream went the full 90 for Fulham in the English Championship. The Cottagers drew with Reading 1-1.
Ethan Horvath
The 22 year old was between the pipes for Club Brugge in Belgium for a 2-1 win.
DeAndre Yedlin
Sat out with a hamstring injury for Newcastle’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
