If scoring Borussia Dortmund’s first competitive goal of the season against Bayern Munich in the German Supercup wasn’t enough, Christian Pulisic has now been awarded the Bundesliga’s MD1 Man of the Match award.
Dortmund’s Bundesliga season started the season away at Wolfsburg. The road was not kind to Dortmund last season as they achieved only 21 out of a possible 51 points.
But this is a new season and both Dortmund and Pulisic were up for the challenge.
Pulisic, playing on the right wing, was confident on the ball, did an excellent job finding open spaces, and did a great job of knowing when to push the ball forward and when to retain possession.
The USMNT star opened his and Dortmund’s Bundesliga account in the 22nd minute with a superb strike that flashed across the goal past the helpless goalkeeper. In the 60th minute Pulisic may have one-upped himself with a 20 yard pinpoint pass that found the foot Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang inside the six yard box.
That man @cpulisic_10 is at it AGAIN!

First the goal, then this beauty of an assist. https://t.co/eAV741m8Wa
The Wolfsburg match was the first in the Bundesliga for new head coach Peter Bosz who said Pulisic “did really well today – and not just because of his goal. He was all over the pitch, created lots of dangerous situations and played really well.”
Pulisic himself seemed satisfied after the match.
