The United States started World Cup qualifying exactly as they wanted to, and as expected, with a thrashing of minnows St. Vincent and the Grenadines at home. With that 6-1 win in hand, they find themselves at the top of Group C in the semifinal round of CONCACAF qualifying, but now they turn to their toughest match of the stage -- at Trinidad and Tobago.
The Soca Warriors had a strong Gold Cup, winning a group that included Mexico, and only going out of the tournament on penalty kicks against Panama. They kicked off qualifying on Friday with a 2-1 at Guatemala so they're even with the U.S. on points and in good form. They're not just the next best team in Group C, but the island nation is also just off the coast of Venezuela, meaning the travel to Port of Spain is pretty sizable.
