Yep, it still hurts, and less than 48 hours after the United States completed its freefall out of contention for the 2018 World Cup, people are still reacting to the match. After the match, we asked you to rate how the players did, and somehow I feel like you all were incredibly lenient.
The ratings:
Tim Howard - 2.370
DeAndre Yedlin - 4.030
Omar Gonzalez - 1.501
Matt Besler - 2.625
Jorge Villafana - 2.595
Michael Bradley - 2.509
Paul Arriola - 2.705
Darlington Nagbe - 2.887
Christian Pulisic - 6.463
Jozy Altidore - 2.658
Bobby Wood - 3.063
Clint Dempsey - 4.124
Kellyn Acosta - 3.142
Benny Feilhaber - 2.991
Christian Pulisic was your easy Man of the Match, but I’m going to go on a biased rant here. The real MVPs were the fans that traveled to Trinidad and Tobago for the match. Those dedicated fans (full disclosure: I was one of them) and the scores of fans who gathered at home, at bars or elsewhere for the match to cheer on the team deserved better. Every fan that attended matches or followed the USMNT throughout the Hex deserved better. But, we didn’t get that World Cup bid we sought, and we have now entered the dark times of U.S. Soccer.
Let us know who your MVP was for the match in the comments.
