The United States men’s national team put on a show in San Jose to defeat Honduras, 6-0, to pick up their first three points of the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.
The Yanks got off to a flying start when Sebastian Lletget bagged his first international goal just five minutes into the match, getting on the end of a rebound from a Christian Pulisic shot and putting the U.S. up 1-0. Michael Bradley would follow with a nice goal from outside the box to double the lead around the 25th minute mark and by 32nd minute it was 3-0 when Clint Dempsey scored a brilliant goal after a Pulisic ball in.
Bruce Arena’s perfectly picked lineup didn’t let up in the second half as the attacking barrage continued with Pulisic getting his deserved goal just a minute into the half. By the 54th minute the lead would be extended to 6-0 thanks to two more from Dempsey as he clinched his hat trick in his first match back from a heart ailment.
A total team performance and one that made a huge statement that his team is back and ready to climb their way up the Hex standings and qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
