Seeing 24 year-old center-back John Brooks go down with an injury during the second half of the friendly with Venezuela, was not a good sign for fans or the team. According to United States coach Bruce Arena, Brooks has a bruised quad and he doesn’t know if Brooks is going to be ready by Thursday for a showdown with Trinidad and Tobago.
Brooks recovered enough over the weekend at attend and take part in training yesterday. According to US Soccer officials the newly minted Wolfsburg center-back participated in the full training (training was only open to the press for 15 minutes). Injuries and the like have plagued him throughout his international career.
If you recall that during the last group of World Cup Qualifying matches, he had to leave the 6-0 beat down of Honduras with a sinus infection, that would also keep him out of the 1-1 draw with Panama.
Brooks has been capped 31 times, scoring 3 goals which includes a game winner against Ghana in the 2014 world cup.
With Brooks out who would you like to see take his place in the back line against Trinidad and Tobago? Let us know in the comments!
