Yanks Abroad: Morales scores, Miazga goes nuts

Several Americans performed very well, but Matt Miazga was lucky to escape extra punishment.

Dutch Eredivisie'Vitesse v SC Heerenveen'

We’ve got plenty to look at from our Americans playing abroad this past week. Timothy Chandler has seen a very productive January and he continued that trend on Friday with another assist. Alfredo Morales also got in on the action with a goal of his own. But the best clip of the weekend goes to Matt Miazga for all the wrong reasons.

Alfredo Morales
He went the distance and opened the scoring in the 3’ minute as Ingolstadt lost to Regensburg 3-2. VIDEO LINK

Timmy Chandler
He picked up a really nice assist as Frankfurt defeated Gladbach 2-0. Timmy has now recorded a goal or an assist in 3 straight matches.

Matt Miazga
Still on loan from Chelsea, Miazga went the distance for Vitesse in a 2-1 win over Zwolle. By the way he casually grabbed another player by the jewels for no apparent reason. So that is... something.

Kenny Saief
The Israeli-American played all 90 minutes for Anderlecht in Belgium and he picked up an assist just before halftime. They split points with Standard Liege in the 3-3 draw. He is currently on loan from Gent. VIDEO LINK

Danny Williams
He went 36 minutes before getting injured in Huddersfield Town’s FA Cup draw with Birmingham City. He was at training on Monday, but looks to be a Doubtful for Tuesday’s league match vs Liverpool.

Christian Pulisic
Christian played 67 minutes in Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with Freiburg before being subbed out for Andriy Yarmolenko. BvB continues to struggle and are sitting all the way down in 6th place at the moment.

Tim Ream
The 30 year old put in a full shift for Fulham as they defeated Barnsley by a final of 3-1.

Eric Lichaj
Lichaj went all 90 for Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 FA Cup loss to Hull City.

Cameron Carter-Vickers
Played 90 minutes at CB for Ipswitch Town in his 3rd appearance since being loaned from Tottenham Hotspur. Wolverhampton won the match 1-0.

Jorge Villafaña
Went the distance for Santos at left back in a 1-1 draw with Veracruz.

Aron Johannsson
What do you know!? He got on the pitch for all of TWO MINUTES for Werder Bremen’s 0-0 draw with Hertha Berlin. Johannsson has only seen a handful of minutes all season and it looks like he needs a change of scenery if he wants to get real playing time.

Julian Green
Starting on the left wing, Green went 90 minutes for Greuther Fürth in a 0-0 draw with Holstein Kiel in the German second division.

Ventura Alvarado
Alvarado went 90 minutes at CB for Necaxa and got a big 4-0 shutout at Leon.

William Yarbrough
Unfortunately Yarbrough was on the other end of Necaxa’s beating and he watched his net bulge four times.

DeAndre Yedlin
Was on the roster for Newcastle’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea, but did not make an appearance. Apparently he should have.
